An international smoking warning label reads as follows: "Smoking leads to a slow and painful death." Yeah, but who is in a hurry...
Should you, as an adult, choose to have a smoke, who is the state of Colorado to stop you? You are going to partake in this "Killer" habit, so who is Denver to stop you? They decided they weren't. I know DIA is a dying breed, but yes, you can still have your cigarette at the airport. It is the least we can do, and thank you for flying through. You just avoided having to go back to the main terminal, and the power saved alone is massive when you add it all up. We are about what works up here. Sometimes you can even see the results of the forethought.
The smoking lounge on the top floor of concourse B, is an example of a compromise.
Should you wish to have a cigarette in the main terminal, the smoking lounge is on the west side, another compromise.
In my opinion, it is a model for other airports to follow.
I, as the author, have smoked. I don't condemn it, and approve of the "DEDICATED" smoking areas. They are run privately, and the rules are simple, "BUY A DRINK." The profit the bar makes, enables you to continue to have your right to smoke. Play along, and enjoy. There are several nice chairs, a large bar, another barstool and table section, and you can even watch the airplanes on the window bar. The amenities are fantastic, you can enjoy your chain smoking before you have a 4 hour hiatus, and the city makes a bit of tax money on the whole bit. Everybody is happy.
Enjoy your smoke, your drink, and enjoy your flight. We appreciate the tourist dollars!
