DIA is not a small place. The fact that the place looks and functions like a giant festival beer tent doesn't help many contain themselves. Oh wait, the airport receives folks worldwide, who take their first bathroom break on American Soil right here. Lord knows my friends and I have. It is very safe to assume many have had to hold it for hours, sustain bowel crushing pressure changes, and more. It isn't just safe to assume, you know the bathrooms at this Airport get used.
I suppose the job is a bit easier, the airport isn't even 20 years old and the grout hasn't even cracked yet. However, the sparkle in the urinal makes me smile. Somebody did that, or it wouldn't happen. The urinals today when I checked 3 mens rooms, 2 by baggage claim, and the one by my gate as I left the building were all in great shape. The countertops were dry, and clean. The place smelled well, and there wasn't trash on the floors. The crew was on top of things.
The lack of foulness in the air is a measure of both cleaning, and the general order of the place. The equipment at DIA, Denver International Airport is relatively new. But the fact that it isn't already beat up and mauled is a testament to design and materials chosen by the designer. The fact that they are solid, where they stand is a compliment to the guys in the maintenance shops.
Kudos gals and guys! I love to fly through DIA.
Let this not be a condemnation of Bathrooms elsewhere in the nation. There is a quality standard that can be found in many nice airports. Others don't do as well. You know who you are.
